Hey it’s coach here again.
I posted this message to our Facebook Page:
“Huwag papasok sa negosyong barya lang kikitain. Sayang lang oras mo.”
Interesting enough, I received many negative feedback like this one:
Hindi naman ako nainis or nagalit in anyway. First, di ako “Shunga” kasi lalaki ako. So dapat “Shungo” di ba? Hahaha
Seryoso na.
When people started to talk about how Chinese build business using a “tinge-tinge” strategy, naisip ko that not many people understand the difference between Profit (Tubo) vs. Income (Kita).
Some businesses, maliit man ang “tubo” for each sale but they sell in bulk, they still make BIG income in the end.
My friend, you don’t want to start a business na mapapagod ka lang sa liit ng kita.
I guess the first thing you need to know is…”how much money you want to make from the business you want to start?”
Look, kung gusto mong kumita ng P250,000 per month, well baka ang maliit na sari-sari store sa tapat ng bahay mo is not the right business or vehicle for you.
And that’s what I’m trying to say in my Facebook post.
Sometimes, you have to say no.
But here’s the thing.
You’ll NEVER know what the right business is for you unless you know exactly what you want.
When I was still a “corporate slave” I made a decision that if I’ll start a business, I want a business that can potentially give me at least five times my salary as an employee.
Listen, I’m not saying na kailangan mo kumita agad ng malakihan as soon as you start. Every big business started small.
But you should know the income potential of the business na papasukin mo.
If you like your job and simply want an extra income, then a freelancing gig may work.
The more specific you are on what kind of income and lifestyle you want, the better.
Again, when I was still an employee and planning my escape from 8 to 5 job, one of things that I want for a business is the freedom to work anywhere and anytime that I want to.
I realized kasi that I’m more productive early morning and evening. So I want a business na walang restrictions sa oras.
This led me to launching online businesses.
In fact, I’m writing this email at McDonalds.
You see, it’s not an accident that I’m at McDo and writing this email to you. I designed this lifestyle business. Years ago, I already envisioned that this moment will happen. And IT DID!
Now, my challenge to you is this…”Do you know specifically what you want?”
“Do you have specific amount of income in your mind that you want to make from a business?”
If not, it’s time to pause and design your life right now. Get a pen and a nice notebook and start dreaming and planning.
Remember, you only have one life to live.
To your freedom,
Jon Orana

Was in the same boat and still recovering till now, But mine a bit different din kasi, I once owned a franchised food cart, mahirap sa food tapos retail pa, not unless ikaw ag franchisor or distributor, before ka pa malugi or kumita, kumita na sila sa umpisa palang. But fret not! I hope that you find the perfect location and reach the right market for your business. More power!

Hello Mr. Jon,
My idea is hindi ako mag susulat o gagawa ng ebook.
Thanks

Sir I would like to solicit your good ideas about starting a business. I have resigned my job so that I can pay-off my debts, and now I would like to start a business. I am now 40 years old. I left 300k from my retirement after settling all my obligations. Actually I love and like animals especially chickens and pigs, is it right for me to start a business in raising animals. Is it a viable business.
Jon Oraña says
Hi Raul.
You have to do your own research and study on this business. You should NEVER invest in a business that you don’t know anything about. The best thing to do is talk to people who already have a successful poultry business.

Hi Marn.
You need to learn how to effectively market and sell your products. That’s your main job. Once your making enough sales, your money can solve a lot of business problems.

Right now my present job is loan collector sguro skills ko talaga to kasi 2012 ako na assigned sa work na to..imagine ang quota ko is 1.3 million a month collection medyo malaki talaga ang role ko sa company namin then my salary is 9thousand per month only. In my ability paano ako Maka start ng bisniz? May collector bang umasenso? Just advise me sir ano ang gagawin ko..

I suggest that we can keep your day job, but you must also spend time minding your own business (i.e. investing in assets). be cautions against buying luxuries before you are rich. I suggests that you wait until your assets have yielded enough money to buy that Mercedes or new boat you’ve been eyeing
Joms says
I am happy to have come across this article, I have been trying to free myself financially but at the same keep my current job, but retire in my early 30’s.
I had difficulty with my first business venture which is a franchised food cart business. It is true when you said that if you want a certain amount of earnings per month, you have to plan what kind of business you have to invest on. I say invest on the source which you can supply in bulk, not in retail. But still start with retail as your stepping stone if you don’t have the big capital.
