I was asked…”Sir, pano ba magsimula ng negosyo? Parang ang hirap.”
First, anyone who says starting a business is easy is a liar.
Kung madali then most people are entrepreneurs.
Right?
Business building and wealth creation requires certain skills.
And like most skills it will take some time to develop.
The key is you must stick to it no matter how hard it is.
Let me ask you this…
Do you know how to play a guitar? If not, have you at least once tried to play a guitar?
You can probably still remember how difficult it is in the beginning.
It’s not easy.
But once your guitar skill has been developed, you can now play pretty much all the songs that you want.
It’s the same principle in business building and wealth creation.
This is the reason why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
The rich understands this wealth formula:
P + RS = S
Perseverance + Right Skills = Success.
Listen, you can blame the government and the corrupt system all you want but that won’t make you rich.
Besides, those are outside of your control. Blaming never changed anything.
Develop the necessary skills for your business and stick to it.
Mind your OWN business.
Soon, we will meet at the top celebrating our success.

pchie says
Dear sir,
And yet he end of nothing.
CASH is the life blood of the business.
Jonathan says
I agree with Jon..mahirap magpautang especially if you don’t have enough capital ..I have done this before pero ang hirap sumingil..I’d rather go on food business..
sheryll rose says
Marivel says
Ngayon nag food business na naman ako, kaso i am near in my relatives, and dami naman utang, ang hirap kasi relative mo parang maawa ka kung hindi naman e grant sila. buti naman may information na katulad nito, it will refresh my mind about what is business. Thanks for sharing
Mary Joy says

eldie says
Do not start business by getting a loan from credit card. Credit card interest peak at 40% a year. Get a loan of 100k and pay 140k for one year. Your business will not survive because of very high interest.
Arman Casvel says
correct
bullrider says
Hi leonard.
I have same business as yours.
For real estate mrtgage, ask for original land title, certified true copy of land title, mortgage agreement, vicinity plan.
Interest on loan must be higher than ur credit card interest. Beware of fake land titles.
For salary loan, ask for salary atm card,
Original govt issued id, employment contract, pay slip. Max loanable amt is 15 % of monthly salary.
Business is very risky, i do not recommend to borrow capital. Better save first.
Apple jean says

Sir,
Can I ask for an advise?Matagal na akong gustong magsimula ng business that has to do with cooking because that has been my passion and I also loved to write. Nabasa ko kasi from one of your materials that a good business can be that one your passionate about.I am a government employee right now pero nakakapagod din minsan I’d like to somehow stay home and earn at my own pleasure kung kailan ko gusto and I could still attend to my husbands needs and his ministry.Ano pong suggestion ninyo for me?
Jon Oraña says
Your first step is to understand what kind of business model. Sa food kasi, maraming klase. Pwede kang restaurant, pwedeng delivery service lang, pwedeng catering lang. You can do all at the same time but I don’t recommend it yet in the beginning.
Then, define what kind of food you’ll offer. It has to be good though dahil ang number one na kalaban mo sa food business e hindi ang competitor mo kundi ang “lutong bahay”. Meaning, people can always go home and cook dinner instead of spending money in a restaurant.
Nora says
Jonathan V. Sabiniano says
Hey Jon! I’m Jonathan Sabiniano, my nickname is Jon too. Some of my friends call me Doc or DocJon since I’m a veterinarian by profession. Anyway, I’ve been receiving e-mails from you since I discovered your facebook page (Negosyo University) about 3 or 4 months ago. I also enrolled in the Money Tree System Webinar, although I have attended only three of the scheduled webinars so far. The rest of it i have not personally attended due to travels and domestic tasks (pag-aalaga ng 2 year old na anak). But I’m glad that you and your team are providing the recordings and the audio-visuals, di ko nga lang mai-upload sa ipad ko kasi di ko alam kung paano…hehe para sana mapakinggan ko habang nasa travel or pag naghihintay ng sasakyan pauwi.
I’m glad that I have found your facebook page that day (di ko na nga lang matandaan yung exact date). Just like you, I have read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki by 2003. I have followed him even on his website. But I have noticed that he focused more on Real Estate and Investing which is a bit different situation here in the Philippines. So, I discovered the books of Francisco Colayco. Kaya lang he focused more on savings naman and how to save your money for future investment. Parang di ako kumbinsido at may kulang pa.
To achieve that dream, I have joined several Network Marketing Business since that time I read Robert’s book and fortunately, I have earned… a lot of experience…. that I do not want to go back to Network Marketing. So, I focused on my job as a government employee. But again, day-in-day-out my salary is not enough for the lifestyle that I’ve been dreaming of at saka di ako makaipon ng kahit isang bundle ng pera. So nag decide ako na mag negosyo ng kaunti. That time C2 bottled iced tea was introduced by URC and I grabbed that opportunity. I went to canteen by canteen near my office, distributing C2. Ako lang lahat, marketing, delivery, pati pahinante. Bago ako umuwi ng bahay after ng work, I will pass through Makro to buy my stocks and then unload them sa bahay. Madaling araw, I will load the orders for the day (kahon-kahon ng C2). Before going to work, deliver muna ako sa mga canteen just in time sa 8am na time-in ko. Ganun ng ganun, araw-araw except linggo. Kaya lang ang liit ng kita. Sa bawat kahon, P10 lang ang kita. Weekly nakaka 50boxes ako so that’s an extra P500. Fit and Right na ng Del Monte. I went to Makro again pero nakita ko na di kaya mag mark up kasi mas mura ang delivery ng Distributor ng Del Monte kaysa bibili ako sa Makro. I called up Del Monte para makapag order sa kanila directly pero they said I have to go to the Distributor. Ang distributor naman may minimum orders para ibaba nila ang presyo which I cannot meet. So I decided to close the business and went back to being a government employee.
Year 2010, someone introduced me to the chicken distribution business. Basically, the company provides the logistics then after the day I will pay them off with what they delivered to my customers. It lasted for 2 years then I stopped. Which is reasonable, kasi wala akong gastos sa logistics e. But my simple dream was realized that time. I went to the bank with bundles of money for deposit. Wala lang akong cheke pa.
So after stopping, naubos lahat ng savings ko from the chicken distribution business. Nagpakasal na rin ako and went to places din kasi. I still have a longing to have that business again but I don’t have the capital anymore. At the same time, kelangan ko ng sasakyan para makapag distribute. The Lord saw my heart and heard my longing. My aunt from Japan visited our house and stayed for two days before going to our relatives. That time she had a check from her husband’s stipend when he was studying his PhD in the US. It was a great deal of money. She decided to put it in the bank and gave the ATM to me for safe keeping. To make the long story short, nang hiram ako ng pera for capital sa business and promised to return it after 3 years. So nakabili ako ng sasakyan for distribution, nakabili ako ng stocks ng manok para sa customers ko. I revived my customer list, went to them and nag-alok ulit. Now, I have bundles of money and may cheke rin… hehe…. Natupad na ang simple kong pangarap!
But I want to do more sa business na ito. I’m still in my government job while doing the business. I handle the orders and the inventory of stocks. My parents are handling the delivery at pagkakamada ng stocks kapag may sobra. I’m in San Pedro Laguna and my parents are in Marikina City. I’m thinking of quitting my job to attend to the expansion of the business but upon consulting they said that wag muna. The business should be earning at least 6 months of my monthly salary before quitting. I’m planning to quit my job when I reach 46 years old. I’m 40 now, so 6 years pa. I’m still seeing potential for my business kasi di ko pa nata-tap ang mga nag-iihaw ng manok at ang palengke.
After all these story and all of these writings, ang question ko sa yo Jon is: What can you advice me to do for my existing business, knowing where I came, where I am now and my future plan for the business?
Sorry sa napaka habang story. Thank you in advance.

Hi sir Jon and other friends … I don’t know if I am wasting time or investing for something … what is important is I am entertained and I enjoy reading your posts, I hope you guys will also appreciate this sharing. I am sacrificing 2 precious hours reading your blogs and other articles.
Me too ….. loves inspiring people and I am into employment and business too..
I am 35 this time and an islander. I’m currently occupying managerial position in a lending institution. I worked as early at 17 as an office worker right after my mother died leaving a one year old sister… I was a working accounting student in QC in 1999 to 2003. I worked hard to support my education and my siblings. I struggled much to earn my college because of my burning desire to send my younger sis and bros to school. Imagine a probinsyana taga isla na pupunta sa Manila for the first time just for education. I was once a yaya, labandera, tindera, tutor at kung ano ano ang paninda ko tulad ng Avon, Natasha…
At the end, nakatapos din and blessed with promotions and in few months have a seat in the managerial level. It was fulfilling and feeling ko okey na ako kasi konti barya malaki na sa tulad ko na galing sa walang wala.
… At the end I realize that I’ve been working for eleven years to make other people rich. I am managing their money and take their dividend/earnings just sitting down. Yes, I am well paid for my skills but would it be a better decision to utilize my skills to rise?
… In my eighth year, I realized my efficiency was declining, my knowledge is outdated and I need to refresh, I went to a part time schooling took up education major in math and then started my Masteral Degree.
…Fame? Money? Fulfillment?….. basta pag nakatapos na mga kapatid ko then hahanapin ko din yung kulang, But I can’t get out of employment kasi may obligasyon ako sa mga kapatid ko at pamilya ko.
… Fame? yes I tried politics but almost ………….. anyway, there is a Divine Plan
… Fulfillment?
…. I took CPA after ten years pero lagapak…..
… Pera??? baka nga
I opened an RTW store, clicked for three years then later dahil hindi ko natututukan. Ang accumulated income ko dun is just enough to buy a piece of Lot.
… This time, I am into homestay business and I want to have one more thing to look into….
I need to get out of my cubicle and see my self into a lending business of my own, it is where my experience, knowledge and skills are best utilized lalo na siguro kung ang pinag hihirapan ko sa araw araw ay mapapa sa akin din….
I dream this … not only for myself but a tool to help other people
….Sir Jon, I need your insight
God bless po

You can learn to play the guitar but not all are gifted. Others can play well while others barely play a piece and needs a chord guide. Being in business needs a skill and the right attitude. Based on my experience, you need more to know “who” than to know “how”. But mind you, that’s not all. In order to learn, you need to start.

Goodday to you Jon, I was receiving your emails since 3-4 months but I don’t give attention to it though your topic is very interesting about starting a business of any kind of business. Anyway let me introduce myself first I’m 54 years old now, a nurse by profession working here in Saudi Arabia since March 1988…got marrried here and have 2 daughters. After 10 yrs. my family ( wife and kids ) decided to go back to Philippines because my wife has stable job there which is teaching of elementary grades in short she’s a teacher in their hometown and for studies of my children so I was left in Saudi working as bachelor for 20 years I survived to live in my own, but I go for vacation yearly for 2 months. For 20 years working here in Saudi, I acquired 3 doors apartment, a two story house and a van. Now my children is in college Med. Tech and Nursing in private Universities in Manila. But now I’m planning. to put up business because 5 years from now I will retire soon and my wife also wants to quit from teaching she feels exhausted and tired everytime she finished her worked. I purchased a condo unit in Manila for my children to stay which until now I’m financing. I invested network marketing thinking it will help me increased my income but instead my money was wihtheld by them. I choose networking because you will not spend to much time and effort while working here in Saudi but, only few months it stopped the system due to some legal matters. Now I’m searching for some advice if you can help me have additional income thru internet because my income still not enough to suffice my family….more power and best wishes…GOD bless!!!

Hello! Jon!
Al last, Parang eroplano, nakasakay pa rin ako sa last day of your enrolment sa IBMC, I sent you my attachment at your direct negosyo university this noon. On your first day, I would start grinding and learning from your mentoring sessions soonest since this is my last engagement of a business. I am very positive with your proven strategies about Internet marketing Skills. This is not an instant process of learning online. Throughout, in my 9 years enduring so many ups and downs on business, everything “lugi”. I admit, I lack skills. In Internet e Book writing and marketing at amazon.com, I got only one sale. But I still continue to travel this field maski pagod na sa hirap at kapos. Puntahan pa rin ang dulo kahit madilim.
With the help of God, the light is now coming our way. To study, learn and apply soonest about this field in your 8 weeks Internet Business Master Class would be challenging. I was really impressed by your previous students who were successful and reaping their fruits of their labor with big and fat income in e Book Internet Business. “Nakakatuwa!” I pray that all of us will be blessed in our pursuits, at IBMC starting September 26 . Walang maiiwan sana namin at maalagaan lahat. You did the right thing on helping people. Congratulations!
Maraming Salamat Jon!

Tama po! Instead of continuously blaming others for inaction or lack of it, dapat tayo talaga magsimula ng pagbabago.

Sir salamat sa mga advises po ninyo. i really am interested in the e-book business you are telling us. teacher po ako sa public school and the income is meager. pwede po ba ninyo ma-discuss ang tungkol sa copyright issues? baka po kasi magka-problema sa pagko-qoute ng mga references at makasuhan ako ng flagiarism. tnx. i really wanted to start my very own e-book business
Danilo says
Sir Jon, can i still enroll on your webinar?
Rommel Cana says
I want to start my own e-book business mainly because i’m 100% sure that a lot of people will benefit from it. I have been really successful in mentoring a few people to get really motivated and they are enjoying the results so far, i am not yet financially stable as of now because obviously, word of mouth is true, random people began to approach me online, but to help people , we’ve gotta sacrifice some of our time, even if that particular time is allotted for our own productivity. And then all of a sudden you came out of nowhere like an angel who answered my problem directly, tell you the truth i’ve thought of it already but i just don’t know where to start. I know you can help me through this because i know we have the same motive, to help people and to help ourselves at the same time.

Hi sir John, I’ve just started a food business just 4 months ago. I offered a unique recipe which is very new to the market here in cavite. A lot of customers who have tried my arrozpata says its delicious, tama ang timpla at hindi mamantika. With this feedbacks I am positive that I am doing the right thing though at that time abonado pa ako sa pang upa at pasweldo. Dinagdagan ko pa Ng ibang products like bulalo , papaitan siomai siopao Para mahabol ang gross income that I need. But that didn’t change the situation hanggang ngayon nag aabono parin ako sa pang upa and dumadami na utang ko. My location is at mainstreetside though malayo sa palengke kung nasaan talaga ang maraming tao. Residential area naman siya pero I noticed that pagdaan ng mga tao may mga bitbit na silang pagkain nila galling sa talipapa. How about those old customers, I don’t know pinuri lang nila pagkain pero hindi na sila bumalik. Around 30 percent lang bumalik. I don’t want to surrender, this is what I like to do. ayaw ko nang bumalik sa pagiging empleyado. Please advise. anyway I am 36 yrs old, a family man with one daughter.

Hello Mr. Jon!
I am presently employed sa Govt sector as comptr operator. Maliit lang talaga salary almost 700/day lang. Ang mister ko is self employed.. On call driver ng van at minsan namamasada ng tricycle. May 3 kids ako na nasa high school. Pero since nasa province kami, nakakaraos naman.
I am having difficulties sa business. Marami din kami sinubukan na mliliit lang capital but it end up to nothing kasi nga nagagastos ang tubo pati puhunan tangay kasi wala ng ibang income. Nawalan din ako minsan ng pag-asa but because my family needs me, I need to be stable.
And today I see your blog, I have lot of questions. What if hindi mag click kasi marami ng computer shop samin 2. What if hindi maging stable sayang ang pera. 3. What if hindi palla bagay sa lugar namin. 4. What if mag ka prob sa unit baka di ako kumita.. etc..
Can you advise me Mr. Jon?
My husband did not support me maybe because he is afraid to loose money again. I am not that very good in computer but since my knowledge ako at eager ako sa ganung business at yun lang nakita ko pwede ko itayo na hindi masyado na mamomroblema habang nag work ako and beside sa mga anak ko din ang benefits kasi lagi silang may research work.
After 2 yrs I will have my college student. Pls help me. I am planning to work it next year kapag tapos na ibang loans ko.
kurt says
hi there,
10 or 12 per hour sa iba, saken 15/hr promo ko 25 for 2 hrs
* computer
Old style yung may HDD ang units mo

hi Jon,
I’m glad to read all your inspirations to any aspiring lifestyle entrepreneur, and though I am already old, your stories inspired me. Now I’d like to try hard to make a lifestyle business that can make me a fair and square lifestyle entrepreneur. I am looking into your inputs later. I am doing well and better with my struggles in health concerns and eyeing to join you. God bless you for your lifestyle generosity.
